Vacant Positions

CARE Malawi a Non-Governmental relief and development organization is recruiting for a manager and technical expert in at least three of the following services: maternal, newborn and child health; nutrition; family planning; malaria control; HIV/AIDS; water and sanitation; or tuberculosis programs. The successful candidate will oversee a SWaP-linked programming for health services delivery project that will be implemented in a consortium.

CARE is therefore looking for a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the position of Deputy Program Director.

Please note that the position will be contingent upon approval and being awarded the project

Responsibilities:

  • Provide program leadership and strategic direction on SWaP-linked programming for health to ensure the Program’s technical and financial integrity and to achieve program goals, objectives and targets.
  • Work collaboratively with other program team members to ensure that necessary program planning, development, resource availability and management activities function smoothly and efficiently.
  • Ensure high-quality program implementation, consistent with Malawi’s national health guidelines.
  • Promote and support the dissemination of program information among the program team.
  • Develop and modify Malawi work plan including budgets with Chief of Party, technical advisors and Finance Manager.
  • Work with M&E staff to develop M&E framework and track data/results.
  • Ensure compliance with operational policies and regulations.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Relevant clinical or technical degree with post-graduate level training, preferably in public health
  • At least eight years of directly relevant professional experience in successful field implementation and management of programs in at least two of the following areas: maternal, newborn and child health; nutrition; family planning; malaria control; HIV/AIDS; water and sanitation; or TB programs for public, private or NGO sector
  • Proven leadership skills, as well as skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
  • Proven track record managing a program team composed of several technical experts, program, finance and administrative staff for at least two years
  • Knowledge of the Malawi Health SWaP program of work
  • Understanding of donor regulations and procedures
